Live Activities, Reimagined: A Look at the New FlightyFlow Lock Screen
Behind the design of FlightyFlow's redesigned Live Activities — what we changed, what we kept, and how to get the most out of the new Lock Screen experience.

Why we redesigned
Live Activities are the most-used surface in FlightyFlow during a trip. We watched real travelers use them and noticed three things:
- The most important number wasn't always the most prominent.
- Status icons were occasionally ambiguous.
- The Dynamic Island variant was using its space inefficiently.
The 2026 redesign addresses all three.
What's new on the Lock Screen
- Hero metric: the next decision (gate, ETA, baggage) is now the largest element.
- Live progress bar for boarding-to-takeoff and approach-to-landing.
- Tapping the activity opens directly to the relevant screen.
What's new in the Dynamic Island
- Compact mode shows status icon + ETA.
- Expanded mode adds gate, predicted vs scheduled.
- Long press for one-tap actions: share live link, copy gate, set arrival reminder.
Accessibility
- Increased contrast across all states.
- Full VoiceOver labels.
- Reduce-motion compliance for animation transitions.
What we didn't change
- The data underneath. Same predictive engine, same updates.
- Notifications. The Lock Screen experience is independent of push alerts.
How to enable
Pin a flight; the Live Activity launches automatically a few hours before departure. Make sure Live Activities are enabled under Settings → Notifications → FlightyFlow.
