- You want the gate change to land on your Lock Screen automatically, free
- You want fewer ads getting between you and your itinerary
Choose Flightradar24 if…
- You're an aviation enthusiast who wants AR plane spotting
- You want to see every aircraft type filter and registration history

Verdict
Flightradar24 is genuinely the best plane-spotting app in the world. If you're an aviation enthusiast, install both — there's no replacement for AR. But for the everyday question 'when does my plane land?' Flightradar24's free tier is heavily monetized, the basic traveler features sit behind Gold, and the Live Activities require a paid plan. FlightyFlow gives travelers everything they need without the upsell loop.

Frequently asked
Does FlightyFlow have AR like Flightradar24?+
Not today. AR plane-spotting is a fantastic feature for enthusiasts but secondary for the traveler use case we focus on. It's on our long-term roadmap.
Why is Flightradar24 the most popular flight tracker?+
It launched in 2007 with a unique global radar map and built one of the largest crowd-sourced ADS-B receiver networks. Brand recognition + plane spotter loyalty = enormous App Store presence.
Are FlightyFlow's live positions as accurate?+
Yes. We use ADS-B + satellite ADS-B (for ocean coverage) + ACARS data — the same primary sources Flightradar24 uses, plus our own latency optimizations.
Why does Flightradar24 show a flight FlightyFlow doesn't?+
Usually means the aircraft is using a transponder mode our feed normalizes differently, or it's a private/military flight one provider blocks but the other doesn't. We're conservative on private aircraft to respect PIA/LADD.
Is Gold worth it if I already use FlightyFlow Premium?+
Only if you do AR plane spotting or want extreme aircraft-type filtering. For travel use cases, FlightyFlow Premium covers what most users want from Gold.
Can both apps run side-by-side?+
Absolutely — many of our users keep Flightradar24 for spotting and FlightyFlow as their travel-day tracker. Different tools, different jobs.
