How to Use TSA PreCheck (and Avoid the Common Mistakes)
Make sure your TSA PreCheck is actually printed on your boarding pass, find the PreCheck line, and use the program to its fullest.

Before the airport
The most common reason PreCheck doesn't print on your boarding pass: your Known Traveler Number (KTN) isn't on the booking. Add it under your loyalty profile so it carries across trips.
At the airport
- Look for TSA PRE✓ on your boarding pass.
- The PreCheck lane is usually shorter and has dedicated screening.
- Keep shoes, belt, jacket, and laptop on/in the bag.
- Liquids stay in the quart bag.
- ID is still required.
When PreCheck didn't print
- Check the airline app — sometimes you can re-issue the boarding pass.
- Visit a customer service desk and ask them to re-add your KTN.
- If all else fails, you'll go through standard security; nothing else to do.
Family
Children 17 and under may use the PreCheck lane with a PreCheck-enrolled parent.
Stack with CLEAR
If your hub has CLEAR, you can use it before PreCheck to skip the ID check too. Net experience: from curb to gate in under 15 minutes most days.
