What MPC is

Mobile Passport Control is a free app from US Customs and Border Protection that lets eligible travelers skip the regular passport line on inbound international arrivals.

Who can use it

  • US citizens
  • US lawful permanent residents
  • Canadian citizens (B1/B2 visitors)
  • Travelers on the Visa Waiver Program

Where it works

Most major US international airports — JFK, LAX, ORD, MIA, IAH, SFO, ATL, DFW, IAD, SEA, BOS, EWR, PHL, MCO, FLL, MSY, MSP, AUS, BWI, IAH, DEN, SAN, PDX, RDU, plus most preclearance facilities in Canada.

How to use it

  1. Download Mobile Passport Control before your trip.
  2. Add your passport (one-time setup).
  3. After landing, before passport control, open the app.
  4. Confirm trip and answer the customs questions.
  5. Submit. You'll get a QR code valid for ~4 hours.
  6. Use the MPC line at passport control.

MPC vs Global Entry

If you fly internationally more than once a year, Global Entry is still better — it includes TSA PreCheck. But MPC is a no-brainer when you don't yet have GE.
